If you want to have a gutless motor that can't be Chipped and is 7 years older and no where near worth as much then yes I would.

The Idi's are not as gutless as some believe. They can be woke up quite well, it just take's a little more know how to do it. I don't think you should trade straight across because your 2000 is worth more money. How much more depends on condition and miles.

There is probably (Just guesstimating) $3000 to $5500 difference in price to buy out right so you would be taking a pretty good lose. How much would he sell it for.

x2 on the IdI not being completely gutless. My family has one in a f-superduty, regularly grossing out at 15k+, it does not do it fast but it does move it down the road. Admittedly it does have stupid low gears and is a 5 speed, but still.

IMO the only way I would be able to bear a idi as a daily would be with a 5 speed.

depends on condition and what work it needs , x3 on the idi not being gutless , people who say that obviously have no experience with them

No I have no experience with an Idi but it's gonna be pretty gutless compared to what he's got now. Not to mention how much he would be loosing if did a straight across trade.
