tire size with 6" of lift

I just talked to a guy with a 97' shortbed 4x4 powerstroke with a 6" lift. It has 38" tire on it now. He just uses the truck as an eyecatcher really. My question is...what's the smallest tire I could put on the truck with out looking goofy. Does that make sense? I plan on using the truck and I don't want to have that big of a tire on it. Can anybody help me? Thanks! Preston

Without it looking goofy I would say a 35x12.5" tire. You could do a 33x12.5" but honestly it just wouldnt look right

i wouldnt run anything smaller then a 37-13.50 on a 6 inch lift. If you dont want it to look dumb or silly, i would down size the lift before the tires. i would run a 4.5 lift with 35-12.50's
