Wheel well side box?

Does anyone have wheel well tool boxes in a shortbed truck? I need a little storage, but still need to get a full load of wood or 4wheeler in the bed. I'm just trying to figure out my options.

Right now my budget is $5 . I did look at those, I'm just wondering how much room there is between them if there is one on each side and if they will stand up ok without a bed cap over them.

I had mine lined like the bed so they are tough and I run a truxedo cover.

The selling point for me is that they slide off the hinges and you can remove them when you need space.

Or you can remove them and they double as coolers.

Can they also slide straight out instead of just swinging out? Or open while in the swung in locked position? They'd be useless with the bed full if not. Just, another thing for you to think about. lol

no sir, they are swing only.

You can open them in the "locked position" but remember they are tucked under the bed rail.

Right, bed full they are stuck. Thats why if I have a load in the bed I take them off (they slide up and off the hinges) and set them in the bed or in the cab.

This is an alternative to a tool box, and more for a "weekend warrior" with a bed cover or a lifted truck so you can access them from the tail gate.

I wouldnt consider this for hard core work trucks that need a "real" tool box.
