if the electrical connector attached to the magnetized part is moving, it means that the tin nut and spacer on the end of the solenoid have fallen off in the valley. you can either try to find it, or order a rebuild with a new nut, spacer, and orings and do it right. leaving it loose can lead to a no start no run condition when it falls off. plenty of videos on youtube on how to rebuild it.
w/o pics, I really cant tell you whats wrong. if the magnet, with the elec connector on it, that slides on the ipr stalk, is moving excessively with the tin nut tight, then either the tin nut is not tight or the inside bore of the magnetized part is somehow worn out.
