Glow Plugs???
I think my glow plugs might be bad. It has been around 40-45* at night the last few days. When I start the truck in the morning it turns over real hard and finally fires with a decent puff of white smoke. I think it might be the glow plugs, but I always ask on the ORG first

Sorry I noticed I got a little off topic even in the first post. I was asking if how I described sounds like a glow plug problem? Thanks

how old are you batteries??

Your glowplugs may not be working. Or it could be the glow plug relay failing. have to check the glow plug relay first. I had the same problem you are having. I ended up replacing the glow plugs and glow plug relay all at the same time.

The batteries are fine. I dont know how old they are cause I have only owned the truck for less than 6 months. It only happens the first start up of the morning, the rest of the time it cranks over like a champ.

How would I go about checking the relay on an OBS?

my truck acts the same way in the AM, but I think its due to my batterys being weak.
as for an OBS i would think its the same way, but I am not sure. |

Use a volt meter. Turn the key on and check the voltage at the relay. The two big studs that big wires to them should both read 12 volts when the key is on.

Usually white smoke on start up is a glow plug issue but it could also be the relay
