Question What's it worth???

I have a buddy that has a 97 7.3 motor that currently is on an engine stand and has approximately 500k on the clock. It also has no turbo, bad head gaskets, all injectors and no turbo on it since he wanted to keep it. What would all you out there estimate this to be worth? I am looking at buying to replace my old 7.3 IDI in my old truck after I would rebuild the powerstroke. All opinions would be much appreciated!!!!

And you would basically need a Complete donor truck you convert your IDI truck to a power stoke. MUCH more involved than the engine and computer

Looking for Blue 40-20-40 seats. PM me !!!!!!!

What all would it take to make the powerstroke fit in an '88 model? Haven't ever tried this before on an older truck is why I am curious

Scrap metal prices in your area for the motor.

You would need an entire donor truck to have everything you need to do a swap. At that point, just sell the 88 and buy a powerstroke truck that you want.

I live close to ocala and surrounding areas, so if anyone ever needs a hand with their truck....get a hold of me.

Well, that's embarrassing. Lol. Didn't see this my first read through. Brad has it right, like usual.

Grab all the bolt-on parts off that motor and put them in a box for spares, for when you buy a PSD. The HPOP, IPR, sensors, fuel pump, pulleyed accessories, turbo pedestal, even the front bracket(s) would be worth having. Then let him scrap the core.

So generally speaking, I would be better off finding another IDI 7.3 to build to put in the truck then. I figured it would be too good to be true lol. Truck was in family since new and the first truck I ever drove so it's got sentimental value, it doesn't need a new motor yet I was just going to spend time building another for it so that when it does go I would have one already to bolt in. Guess could save that money an put it toward the Jeep the now lol, thanks for all the help everyone!!

Good choice. I have my grandpas f150 and it is ugly as hell, but he bought it new and he is gone now. So I feel ya on the sentimental, I wouldnt dare consider getting rid of it.
