Injector Question

Is it possible to switch out the injectors from a newer 7.3 to my OBS?

All 7.3 injectors are interchangeable. The later AD style injectors are 140cc and they are split shot injectors. You will need the '97 cali pcm or you will need custom tunes on a chip to run them.

Tough call. If he moved to the 17* pump, he would need the updated housing to prevent drain back issues.

The 15* pump did OK with the 120cc AB injectors. I ran AD's for a bit on a 15* pump. Threw a random ICP code. All depends on the tunes.

Why a cali pcm. and why a 97 pcm if i am putting 99-03 injectors in?

your pcm is programed for single shot injectors as that is what is currently installed, a 97 cali pcm is programed for split shot injectors and will still work with the rest of the sensors.

ok cool so if i get the 97 cali pcm i can still use my same chip and still use my old injectors if i ever wanted too. It doesnt change any of my emissions does it.

What would happen if I didnt change my pcm or chip? would it still run. i was reading on dieselstop that someone has done it somewheres

don't do it i would just get a set of stage 1's that way you still have the single shot injectors which in my opinion is better because they don't use as much oil pressure as split shots(i could be wrong on this so if i am correct me guys) all the superduty guys go to a single shot injector when they get bigger ones. i currently have stage1's (160cc)in mine and they are great and i still have the stock 15 degree pump and it does good unless you the chip on the highest settin and stay in it.also the single shots seem to get better fuel economy. i would just get some stage1's and stay with the single shots
