So I'm lookin' at a '97 F350...

I've been looking for one for a while mainly because I LOVE how the 95-97 model year looks...not to mention the 7.3 under the hood. Anyone have any tips, hints, warnings about these? The odometer says 118k. I haven't driven it yet...it also has the automatic hubs which I'm thinking I'll replace with a nice set of WARN hubs.

Thanks!

Welcome to the org! First of all see if the truck was towed with or anything and if thee trans has ever been replaced or anything, also check for any oil leaks or white smoke there is a chance your o-rings on the injectors might be worn I know mine were at that mileage. I put warn hubs in mine too that work great. I also had to have my crank case breather replaced at that mileage so see if any oil is leaking out of that, then just make sure the fuel filter has been replaced regularly, oil, coolant etc. Has the truck been modded at all?

Matt - I'm not sure about the mods...I hope not...that's my job! It's a little over 200 miles away from where I live so I need to take a ride and check it out.

Thanks for the tips!

When you replace the hubs make sure you also replace the nut kit that holds the internals in. If you don't you will ruin the ne hubs. The kit is less than $100.

Haha of course that is the most fun about having these trucks is modding them yourself thats why I bought my truck bone stock and not even the paint is stock on it anymore I was just wondering if he might have had a chip or anything cuase then he might have been beating on the truck and wearing out the trans or other things. definitely check it out see how the body looks and let us know. Good luck

According to the dealer there aren't any mods that he can see. Also told me that it's got 3.55 gears in it which I *think* I'm happy about from the fuel mileage perspective.

Wife told me the other day that it looks like an old man truck...I had to correct her. :-)

Looking forward to this one. :-)
