Exhaust bypass flapper

Driving me nuts on cold days, mostly it kills the power pulling into traffic, would it hurt anything if I temporarily vice grip the rod open until I delete it in the spring?

You can unplug it or do like my buddy and add a switch in dash so it is manual not auto.
