??? Low Range Light......

have had some slick roads here the last several days so i locked it into 4x4 high after 5 minutes the low range light came on.. shifted back into 2 both lights went out shifted back into 4 and now both 4x4 and low range wont turn off even in 2 wheel....

is there a sensor on the transfer case that can go bad or maybe my linkage is messed up ??
my transfer case isnt howling or grinding and seems to be working just fine

this is on a 5 speed manual crew longbox

It's most likely the switch on the t-case. You should be able to tell by how the truck behaves whether it's actually shifting from 2WD to 4HI to 4LO. IIRC, it's one switch, with two contacts, one grounds out to turn the 4x4 light on and the other grounds out to turn the Low Range light on.

How old is the fluid in the t-case? Maybe if it's old, the switch is gummed up.
