Need some Help on my truck starting

Alright I need some gurus here or anyone that knows. Lately if I havn't started my truck for awhile lets say overnight. This doesn't happen everynight like once a week. I will go set my glow plugs in turn the ignition and it doesn't start a little bit of white smoke comes out during my trying to start it. But then if I go to set my glow plugs two more times I here a faint thumb out of the exhuaset my right below the cab then the truck will start. Any suggestions

How cold is it getting. I know Eugene Oregon is up there a bit. So how cold does it get at night when this happens.

I am currently living in Laramie Wy. right now it get low 30's to high 40"s in the morning

sounds like you got a lot on your truck and you know your stuff, but it turned out to be the glow plug relay for me. $40. I was afraid i might have to change my glow plugs when it happened to me.
