Fuel pump

How is the fuel pumped into the heads? Is it sent through the back of the motor and the regulated return out the front?

It goes from the pump to the fuel water seperator to heads, then to the injectors then to the return line back to the tank.

That I do not know. I think it enters both heads. Do you have a fuel leak and diesel in the engine valley.

It enters the heads where the fuel water seperator is at. if you remove the fuel filter housing you will see where the fuel enters the heads. So that would mean that the fuel enters at the frontend of the heads.

the pump is two stage the top fills the filter and the bottom high pressure sends the fuel to the back of the heads via the banjo nut......

The return is at the front....

First, fuel is draw up from the tank in the "lift pump" stage of the pump, then goes to the filter/water separator. Secondly, fuel is drawn from the filter and pressurized in the pumps second stage, where it flows through the Banjo fitting, as h2odrx mentioned, into the back of the heads. fuel fron the front of the heads returns to the regulator mounted on the filter/water separator, and exits the regulator to a return line.
