Rough start and idle

As it has gotten colder i did glow plugs and UVCH's in my truck and now when it starts it runs really rough. I let it run for a while and if i shut it down and go touch the exhaust manifold where it comes from each cylinder i can tell that it is running comletely on the right left bank but on the right bank it seems to only be running on the front cylinder. sometimes it will pick them up and run nicely and sometimes still at idle it will pick up one or 2 for a second and then drop them back off again. every once in a while maybe 3 times i have noticed my tach not working for a few seconds. up to about 5 seconds and then it will start working again. any thoughts here? its a 95 with 280000 miles.

If I pull the valve cover to check it think the gasket will still be good? Right away after doing it, it would pick those cylinders up after a minute or 2 and run great but now that its colder not so much. Could it also be CPS?

I will try to start it again tomorrow and see what happens. If so what's the cause.

Well usually if it's not starting and the tact isn't moving while trying to start it's the cps and a bad cps can lead to worse fuel mileage and loss of power but as far as I know you shouldn't have and cylinder firing issues from the cps . I would retrace my steps with the wiring and check over the I injectors with a buzz test. Hope this helps good luck

When you hook up the scan tool and it will cycle through all the injectors and basically u can make sure all 8 injectors are getting the proper voltage and it will make sure the Idm and electrical portions of the injectors are working properly. This is done with the engine off. This does NOT mean the injectors are all perfect in good condition. Remember they are only electronically controlled. The next best this is to do a cylinder contribution test while it's running.

Every time I have tried to find a scan took to use im told there isn't one that the truck is to old and that the only thing I can do it pay to have the $90 diagnostic done on the truck.
