Question might be a dumb one

What is the difference between the vin engine code k and f? I found out the hard way there is one I bought a belt, tensioner pulley and vacuum pump, out of those the only one that was right was my vacuum pump. I was given parts for the k, I have the f, I was able to swap them with no problem but just a question I would like to know the answer to.

If there's a question in there somewhere, a question mark might help readers find it....
