No speedo, no odomometer, and blinking OD "OFF"

Just as the title says, tonight I started up my truck, and looked down to see no odometer, then once underway noticed my speedometer working. After that I notice the truck not shifting at its normal shift intervals but nothing "awful" then the O/D off light starts illuminating, which coincides with why I do not have and overdrive.

I do not have a trans temp gauge but I do have an oversized trans pan from mag-hytec, which was warm enough to the touch that I could not comfortably keep my hand on it for more than 2-3 seconds. Not scolding hot like 200+ but based on feeling up thermostats for a living (boat mechanic) im gonna say 170-180* or so for a surface temp.

Any ideas guys? Hoping this doesn't mean its new transmission time.

Vss sensor bad? Maybe lines to vss are broken, or ??? Having a scanner to read the codes your throwing would help a lot here

I'll hook it up to the scanner at the marina tomorrow morning. I was fishing for the possibility that these symptoms have shown in the past with others trucks and it might stick out to someone.

Other information that I thought up after posting.

Trans fluid is at correct level, smells fine and looks good too. Fluid was change 10k ago.

Also, seems farfetched but, I was standing on the hood prior to this issue happening. I was shrink wrapping a boat and forgot my ladder. Again, sounds ridiculous but informations information.

The vss is where id start, its the sensor in the rear diff. Also the trans issues are related to that. An automatic needs the speed sensor to shift properly

Also the tone ring, but exact same thing happened to me when the wires on my vss melted, random gas station selling electrical tape helped me fix that issue, been like that 6 years now

If the odometer is blank, it's more likely NOT the VSS, but the PSOM in the dash. Or the fuse to it (see thread on other forum).
