Thumbs down probably already you guys heard this before.

I am new and know nothing about diesel just reg gas motors.I bought a 97 e350 7.3 TD it ran fine until water in fuel light came on and said change Fuel filter.so I changed fuel filter in bowl topped it off with fuel and secured lid back on and pushed the nipple on bowl to purge air.I primed it 5 times.it started up fine ran for 10 mins and died on me.cannot get it started since.put code reader on her and got several codes.so I put new gpr/neutral switch/fresh oil change.checked bowl again and only a 1/4 full.so I filled it again and did same process. only cranks AND no start.code reader came back with codes corrected and no new ones.ck fuel pump relay and its good.opened water drain to ck if bowl would fill and nothing.so I'm stumped and pissed.it ran fine before and now can't get it started again? What am I doing wrong or is the fuel pump misterously gone bad in an instant fuel filter change.and yes it has a brand new battery as well.

how much fuel is in the tank?

open up the fuel bowl and pull the filter then have someone turn the key to ignition on. the fuel pump should run for about a minute? you should see fuel going into the bowl. if you all you see is air bubbles, your pump is working but your fuel level is below the pick up in the tank. if you're getting nothing, you might have a dead fuel pump.

if the fuel level is below the pick up, the something like the filter screen may have fallen off the end which will cause you to run out of fuel when it's not empty. if you add fuel and still doesn't start, you might have to pressurize the fuel tank with compressed air to help it prime the pump.

You can still turn it over and have someone watch to see if fuel is filling bowl. This will let you know if pump is working. How many miles on truck? Could be a bad pump. Apt ozone carries them about $100.00 all pumps made by Carter regardless of what package says. Good luck.

You have a mechanical pump. There is no fuel pump relay on your truck. You should have schrader valve on your fuel bowl. Use a tire gauge and see what pressure you have there. While cranking it should be around 20 psi. you will need to have 2 people to do this. expect to get diesel to spray out the gauge while doing this.

While your cranking is there any smoke out the exhaust?

These things are not fuel bowl related but may help if you do have fuel pressure at the schrader valve:
You have 4 connections at your valve covers. They are for your glow plugs and injectors. Pop them apart and see if they look good and unburnt. Or even if they have come loose.

Another thing to check is the ICP sensor. It is on the drivers side oil rail up in front, it is at a slight angle. Unplug the sensor, if there is oil in the connection it has gone bad.

Jimbo put some fuel into the bowl and crank if it catches then you have a fuel supply issue, how much fuel is currently in your tank
