Hello All,
The first time I tried filling my new to me 1996 7.3 Econoline 350 Van there was a fuel spill under the chassis when the tank was almost full. That was at a gas station selling diesel. (lower flow rate??) Next time at a truck stop (Higher flow rate??) the fuel spilled at 1/2 tank?
The tank does not leak at other times.

What's going on?

Thanks in advance for any help.

vent is plugged not allowing air to escape. you will have to drop the tank and clear it.

Mite want to drop the tank and find it, probably cracked or loose hose, how much fuel is spilling?

Does it leak when the truck is running? Check for cracks in the filler hose, or possibly the lock ring rusted and opened the pickup assembly, also I had a similar problem after I the new tank in, there was a hole in the return line, it leaked when the truck ran, even leaked some when the fuel sloshed around.

yeah, might be the lock ring leaking, or a pinched line that started leaking.
