tail gate height with lift

This question is directed with the guys with lifts. My truck is used as a welding truck and do alot of work off my tail gate. I want to lift the truck but do not want it to be too high. I was thinking of a 4" lift with 35's or 6" with 37's but not sure where the tailgate would sit so any help is greatly appreciated.

i have a 4" lift with 35's on my 95. works perfect for me at a little above waist height, as i also use my tailgate as a work bench. i guess it depends on your heighth though. i'm 5'11.
