need help on truck

i am bout to purchase a 1997 7.3L powerstroke with 178000 miles on it and the guy wants 5500 for it and my ? is....

1. what is the best air intake for it

2. whats the best chip/programmer for it.. i dont want anything too crazy

3. whats the best size exhaust for it..

im comin from a dodge back to a and im so happy that goat is a hunk on you know what...

You have alot of options here that will yield very similar results.

1. Intake... I would go with the DIY(do it yourself) style intake, lowest cost, or an AFE stage 2.

2. For tuning the truck the best would be a custom chip by Tony Wildman or DP Tuner. You can choose your settings, how many and they are adjustable on the fly. I personally like the TW tunes.

3. You can either completely straight pipe your stock exhaust, lowest cost, or get a 4" turbo back exhaust, what I recommend. Reguardless of what you choose here, replace the stock downpipe on your truck with a 3" downpipe. It is the best mod you can do to these trucks and will give you some turbo whistle

...if you decide to run a chip or programmer... get gauges. I would recommend them anyways... they look sweet and are very helpful.

LOL yeah I got my intercooler sitting in my garage waiting to be put on when I have the time, and yeah someday injectors hopefully someday soon!
