Parts made wrong!!!

All set to change tie rod ends and connecting rod today. Had a friend order everthing under his shop name, still over $200 worth of parts. Anyway, went to another freinds shop and put her on the lift, Taking care to measure everything, so it will be close to being alighned correctly, took it all apart. Started to change the tie rod ends, and hang everything back under the truck...and there it was. The tappered end in the connecting rod ( drag link) was drilled wrong. It was bigger at the top, with the small hole in the bottom!!! No one around here keeps them in stock!!! Twilight Zone said they had 1. It was $50.00. I told him to lay it out, and to make sure it was for a 96 f350 4x4 7.3 truck. Sure it is. It wasent. Told the guy he was wrong on the phone, and then again in the store. He said howed I know it was wrong without seeing it....price. Then compared the two and showed him the difference. He stated he has never seen a drag link that cost that much!!! I told him that most ricer parts didnt cost as much, but we were dealing with a TRUCK!!!
thanks for letting me vent.

Had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago. went through four different parts stores, and 6 drag links. All were made wrong as you said. Only place I could get it from was to order it from the ford dealer.

Called the Ford dealer, he said he orders them from NAPA.
After having Car Quest get another drag link....it was wrong. Called NAPA, in Salisbury, they located one in High Point (55 miles away). When I called Friday, they didnt bother trying to locate one.
Well, after following some B.S. directions, and getting back home...She's on the road again. Got to get her alighned later this week.
Newest problem to tackle....spring bushings, front and rear. Always something!
