Can you clean IPR

Well I came to the conclusion the other day that my IPR is stickin'. Cluxie sent me some o-rings for it and I started slingin' wrenches and sockets at my truck...

Now that I finally got this aggravating SOB out, I think I remember reading somewhere that it can be cleaned?


...HOW!? I can't even make logic of how this f'n thing operates

Anyone know? Or will I be better off gettin' a new one?

ya man they can be tristed apart and cleaded watch for the little pin.I think diesel man got somthing on it.

what are the symptoms of the ipr messin up?

96 F250 460-auto-ext.cab-long box-4.10-152k-10mpg all day running or not.....

Well before I parked my truck to rebuild the injectors to Stage 1's...

If the truck was warmed up and I turned it off, it would crank back up, romp romp and die....I'd have to do that 4-6 times before it'd finally crank and stay cranked...

After I rebuilt injectors, I haven't had that problem, but goin' down the road at steady speed I'll feel it barely give out like you let off the pedal a little...but it just happens for a split second... I pulled into a store a couple of days ago and it romped and romped and romped while I was in the store....

All of these symptoms, I've heard, are due to a sticking IPR..

cool ,im curious to know how your truck ones with stage ones since its a manual,mines a dog with a chip,you should post up some vids if you can.how does it run out the gears,also do you do any towing?

K guys, next question. I got everything apart finally, and the part where it says push the end of the pilot valve in 1/8"...I can't get it to budge... That mean I just need a new one?

I had the TW before I done the injectors, and you're basically screwed if you're racin' w/ the 5spd unless somehow you can get a good jump on someone...But then again it takes a lotta motor to get an 8k lbs truck rollin' in a hurry like that...30mph+ is where it seems to really start pullin' the best...

Cruisin' around town I never had much trouble outta the import tuners past 30mph. If they anticipated the light change like I always do, they could definitely beat me on the 60ft. I dunno if it was a lovely show of my truck's torque w/ TW's tunes, or a poor display of their cars hp but if I could stick close to 'em up to 30, I would walk on past 70% of 'em.

The only DIESEL's that pulled past me was a jacked up automatic SRW 6.0 with some sucky tuner that could barely puff any smoke... he'd usually end up barely passin' me... The other one was an '03ish 4wd dually cummins. He had a harder time passing than the 6.0... He didn't wanna race a lot though. (Maybe the stovepipes behind my cab scared him? ). He almost bought my truck one time where everybody u-turns 'cause his *** wasn't payin' attention. Lucky for him Dodge's have pretty good brakes


My chip should be at Tony's shop by now, according to UPS. I tried calling him today to see when it'd be ready but I think he has caller ID and ignores my number Still hasn't called me back

Whenever I get it back though, I'll try to take some vids for ya
