possible issue?

so this is 2 oil changes in a row this has happened and its got me slightly concerned.
go to change the oil, roll my fat a$$ under the truck, pop the drain plug out and watch her drain out. pull the filter, i have it up side down draining into the old oil container.
new filter on, dump 15qts back into her and go to put the old oil back in the new oil containers to get rid of.

4 containers go in the truck and only 3 came out? happened 2 times. i checked my oil level about 2 weeks ago and she was maybe a qt low and it was added.

am i missing something? dip stick level is showing good but im missing about 3.5 qts on the back side?

Are you checking the oil level before you change it?
