Rebuilding Stock Turbo
Hey guys,
I really need to either rebuild or replace my stock turbo. The bearings are so shot I'm scared of it grenading on me going down the highway. I've found a few rebuild kits for relatively cheep and am wondering how easy these turbos are to rebuild. Additionally, does anyone know of a turbo shop around the Denver area that will balance turbo wheels? I'll only have access to my home shop and tools for a week so time would be of the essence. |

Rebuilding a turbo is no tougher than rebuilding a carb. That is, ofcourse, if your fins haven't been grinding on the case then you need a new one. Why are you wanting to balance the turbo wheels? Thinking that caused the bearings to go out?

From what I've read, you should balance the wheels for longevity. I'm not going to keep the truck too much longer, but I might as well do it right.
