Opinions about oil...

Not trying to start a flame-war, I just want to get people's opinion on DELO 15W-40...

Those who have tried it, would you recommend it?
Those who hate it...why?

Thanks!

I use it too, not great but not bad. Under long constant loads it does seem to burn through its anti-foaming agent in several hundred miles.

I have used it almost exclusively for 243,000 miles(just a couple oil changes using Valvoline). I still have original HPOP, injectors, etc...

In my opinion it is a very good oil for the price.

That's all my truck has run for 224k miles and haven't had any problems. Seems to be a good oil

There is no bad oil as long as it is the correct oil for the application. That is MY opinion. You will never find evidence of a rash of engine failures that lead to the use of Brand X 10W-30

Everybody has that oil which floats their boat...

A buddy of mine administers the program for a major car manufacturer where they test oils. a lot of oils, that may be used in their cars and trucks. He stated that all oils are very close to being equal. The differences don't start to show themselves until you start to really push the envelope such as race engines or extended drain intervals (15 to 20K miles).

Oil filters on the other hand... I do believe there is a difference. So does my engineer friend.

My 2 cents,
Tom

I use Rotella 15W-40 primarily because I can get it for $60 for a five gallon bucket, it works as advertised, and then I get a free 5 gallon bucket. Helps defray the cost of the Wix oil filters.

I have been using Tractor Supply Co's Traveller 15W-40. I get it for $49.99/5-gallon pail. Analysis by Blackstone on every change and doing fine. I get my Motorcraft oil filters at Walmart, something like $9.50 each. I added an FS-2500 bypass fllter, not for extended drain intervals, but for the excellent filtration. I still change the oil at 4K-5K intervals.

I've used Rotella T 15w-40 and I'm starting to not like it. Yeah it's oil and like stated before all oils are pretty close, but it's cheap and everywhere. In my mind that makes me wonder how they make money on that, less quality. So with that rant I will probably use Valvoline Premium Blue endorsed by Cummins or Rotella T6 synthetic
