Hard start, poor mileage

Hi gang; Read a few posts in regard to my problems but I thought I'd ask for direct input. I've got a 95 PS with about 120 on the odometer. Change oil every 2500 miles. Keep the air filters new, change fuel filters about every 6000 miles. Lately she has been starting hard in the morning and really belches out white smoke when she starts...this I am assuming is just a glow plug problem??? Second problem that really has me irked is that I alway have been getting 18.6 MPG with this rig...might be able to get it a bit better than 19 if I drive it below 70 on the hiway. Lately the best I can get out of this is about 13.5!!!! I know a few have said it is the fuel quality but I find it hard to believe that there would be that much of a difference. Any help or ideas on what to look at? Maybe time to change injectors? The power seems normal just the mileage sucks. Would appreciate any ideas.

Yeah more than likely the hard start is the gp's or the relay. Thats a big drop in fuel mileage. Do you have a fuel leak possibly?

Watch and see if the oil pressure moves just before it starts? if it does you have an internal leak in the oil system. Mine does it if I drive it in town on short runs - if I take it on long trips no problem. I have been putting it off, but I need to dip into it and find the cause. I tried to ask Ford, but they are way too smart to speak to me. So here is something Ford will love. I have been looking into adding hydrogen as a boost to the power and fuel mileage. There is all kinds of information on the net about it. Mike OB
