Most of the people on this site are going to tell you that custom tunes are the way to go. They probably are if you are looking for the ULTIMATE hp out of your truck. But I am running Bulldog's 6 pos. chip on my truck right now and I love it. My first setting over stock makes my truck run very smooth and seems to ge tthe best mileage around town and doesn't produce much smoke. The next setting above that makes the truck run a little rougher and has a little more get up in go to it and smokes decent. The next setting similar with more hp and smoke and seems to get the best mileage running down the road for long periods of time. The final setting supposedly 120 hp makes the truck run really rough, idle a little higher, and very touchy. It also smokes as soon as you touch the go peddle but deffinitaly creates the most hp. I have found that if I get on my truck in that setting such as racing someone just afterwords it has a lope idle for a couple seconds but eventually catches up. Overall the chip is worth the money but I am soon to go to custom tunes from wildman for my water meth. I would be happy to answer any other questions you have about the chip.

Have you had any problems with it, or has it been pretty good for you?

I have never had any real big problems I guess with it. If you want to switch it from one position to another you have to wait a half second beween each setting. If you are sitting still and you just crank it from stock to 120hp your truck will die if you are driving down the road and you do it the the truck will die for a second and pick right back up. Not really a big deal just kinda spooks me every now and again cus i forget. Oh and if i switch mine from stock to high idle it will often die so I ussually just shut the truck off and then switch it to high idle and start the truck up.

what RPM does it run at, at the high idle setting? ( mine will probably be different since its a 97' but just curios, and sorry for all the questions.)

hmm i kinda think it is around 1500, but I am not really dead sure I don't use it that much. The next time I am in my truck I will look and give you an exact number but I am pretty sure it right around 1500
