Not sure about about about a 97....easy job on my 99 just removed bolts for radiator shrowd an pushed it out as far as i could. best advice is to get a good pully removal tool. I was able to loosen the pump bolts on both my 99 sd and my 92 f150 to do it without removing radiator. The pully remover I got was Japaf*****ies and worked.28 bucks at local discount auto store. The jaws on puller kept slipping off for me so I used my big c-clamp AKA the one I use to push brake calipers in to lock it down.It is an easy job if you donot have any trouble with pulling the pully. a couple hours and a twelve pack should do the jod.
