Injector Help: Evacuating oil

Hey guys, I got the injectors rebuilt in my truck....160cc now!

Now before I go to reinstall, gimme some tips on purging oil outta the cylinders so I don't hydrolock this thang!

I got a MityVac and sucked a crap ton out of 2 cylinders, they all seem to be relatively dry now and by that I mean I can hear the vac sucking air instead of oil....

Should I turn the motor over by hand first, or will it be safe to do it with the ignition??

Pull the glow plugs, turn the engine over.

Leave the glow plugs out, and you can put a valve cover on with 2 bolts if you want.

Kk, gotcha so far.

The oil rails are initially drained for what reason Maintain?

I leave the glow plugs out....
Put in the injectors...
Do I plug the sticks in or are they just installed for the purpose of keeping oil from goin' straight back in the injector holes?

You can either plug the injectors in or not.

With the glow plugs out, oil rails plugged, injectors installed and torqued properly, turn the engine over by hand.

If you are sure you did everything correctly, do all of this except turn the motor by hand, use the starter. LEave the keys OUT of the ignition. Jump the solenoid. The is a pole on the solenoid with a wire lead covering it. Remove this lead, and jump it with a wire to the positive side of the batt.

Do this no more than 30 sec. Wait 15-30 min while putting the glow plugs back in, reinstalling everything ect ect ect... then crank it again. After each cycle, refill the hpop reservoir. This will make your life much easier trying to get the beast started.


This is simple stuff, just time consuming.
