Question Can a newer 5sp auto be put in OBS?

I was wondering if a newer 5sp auto can be retro fitted into a OBS truck? I figure it would cost less to build one to take power and get good mileage on the freeway due to the overdrive gear? Has anyone heard of this kind of swap?

Jim

No because of the computer programming required to run one.

Dang. I was hoping there could be a stand alone unit that put that trans in the truck.

Possible stand alone controller from PCS

I did some checking around at destoked and they offer a stand alone controller for the 5r110 trans. I've sent them a email, if this will work that is defiantly a option when my trans eventually goes out. I'll post what I find out.

anything can be done, with enough time and money. and like you found out with a stand alone controller i think it could be done. you may need a manual PCM for the engine. and i think the stand alone controllers for the trans run $1K+

There are a few running an Allison trans behind their 7.3. Destroked makes the adapter.
