How can you take a tune off of a truck without the tuner unit?
It sounds dumb, I know, but the truck I bought has a tuner already on it and the previous owner didn't know anything about it (as it was probably put on before he had it). I have no idea what brand it is, all I know is that the ford diagnostics tester picked up on it. Either way, I'm planning on going on a trip next week down to Kentucky and I'm worried about the hight EGTs I see on the truck. I've got the DIY intake but unfortunately the stock retarded exhaust. Right now with a trailer on it, it is easy to bump it up to 11k and not too much more difficult to see 1200 going up smaller hills. My real concern is when I get into the mountains and seeing my EGTs really soar.

Have you checked the PCM for a chip? It could be a chip or it could have a program loaded but I would check for the chip first. If you try to get a dealer to flash the pcm and it has a chip in it you will have wasted that money because it won't work.
