bad warm start

I went to start my truck after being shut off for 10 hours and it wouldn't start. the starter was cranking over but nothing. i waited a few minutes tried again and it started but was super rough and then it died. so i waited a bit again and tried, it started but was really rough and then after a bit it smoothed out. i drove home about 20 minutes and then shut it off. i tried to start it after i shut it off and it fired up right away. Any idea's of whats the cause? Also i have been getting alot worst fuel mileage out of it recently.
