97 obd vs duramax

I have always had duramax trucks. I recently purchased a 97 obs psd with a 5 speed. I know there are differences between the technology in the both engines. What all is needed to get the powerstroke to the same power level as the duramax I am used to driving.

Really REALLY deep pockets

The only duraturd ive ever driven ran an 11sec 1/4 mile. So i really don't have a lot to compare it to. Whats done to your truck currently? Assuming its stock, intake dp exhaust tune. Bigger sticks and hpop.

Call Cary at CTperformance, he sells tony's tunes, he will hook you up. You won't gain a whole lot of power from just tuning.

So by installing a chip it doesnt do as much as the canned programmers on the newer diesel.

No, the limiting factor on these engines is the hardware, not the soft ware. Injectors, high pressure oil pump, fuel delivery would be a good start.

On an OBS I wouldn't get anything smaller than the 1.0 housing.

Hybrid injectors, automatic transmission built (bts), d66/h2e/s300 or 400 based turbo, custom tunes, big high pressure oil pump, and a few other things, if you want big power call Cary at ctperformance/swamps diesel/ irate diesel/ browns diesel/ power hungry performance/ and there are more that can put you into the upgrades to make your butt hole pucker
