2wd to 4wd conversion

I found a gorgeous 97 f-350 auto dually 2wd. It is ext. cab long box with about 350000km. it was owned by an older guy since new who took really good care of it. the truck looks brand new!!! then about 200km further down the highway was a f-350 crew cab srw rusted to crap with a 460 gas 5 spd for like 2500 bucks. i gots to thinkin that this was a sign. How hard would it be to convert the front powertrain from the srw to the dually? would it be worth it? i would like to keep the original auto from the dually. the older fella was askin 15,000 for the dually but i would offer him less

if it was me i would just wait till i find 1 thats 4x4....

i would beg to differ on that....if you had a donor truck the swap wouldnt be that tough...

but 15K. for a roughly 150k (just rough guessing the conversion) 2wd OBS truck is WAY too high...i wouldnt give more than about 8k for that truck...just look at the blue book....
