zf5 parts

Hey guys,

My 97 F-350 is needing a trans rebuild. Its got 360,000 miles on it and the syncros are going out and its also leaking badly. So far I have talked to my local Ford dealer and they can no longer get the parts. Ive talked to two other truck part companies and they tell me zf stuff is on back order and they have no idea when they can get it. I am still waiting on one place to call me back but Im worried it will be the same news. I have found a complete overhaul kit on drivetrain.com (assuming they really have it). I have no experience with them and was curious what the quality of the parts was and if anyone had any other sites to recommend.

Thanks

I believe it was right at $360. Included syncros, main bearings and seal kit. I'm guessing there may be a few additional pieces required like needle bearings and bushings for a 100% rebuild but I think this kit has most of it.

Here is the link for the zc5-47's. any thoughts on the part quality? I wouldn't mind if the rebuild last another 360k!

"Warranty returns vary depending upon the individual manufacture. We warrant that the merchandise sold is free from defect in material and workmanship. In the event that any merchandise is defective the remedy is to receive a replacement part. Drivetrain Inspector/technical personnel will make the determination if parts failed due to material and workmanship of obecause of incorrect installation or because the driver was just having to much fun. All other warranties are excluded"

Lol sounds a little vague.
