Turbo Cleaning?

My truck has been ran for a good 550k without the turbo being touched. I know it has to be dirty as all get out. I just don't know if it should be cleaned and if so how and what with..

  • Kaleb - 97 F-250. 1.0 housing, WW2, 3 inch dp to 3.5 straight pipe, TS 6POS chip, Riffraff 6637 Intake, 4" Rough Country Suspension Lift and 33"s.

Pull the intake off and look at the wheel. What condition is it in? Also, reach your hand in there and try to move the shaft. Does it move at all?

If the wheel looks good, and there is minimal shaft play, then there is no need to do anything to it unless you want to. A little bit of up and down play is normal(as long as it isn't hitting the housing), but any in and out play is no good.

Thanks, Ill check that out tonight. I just wasn't sure if I didnt clean it if it'd get corroded or something

Wow 550k without being cleaned!!!! Heck the dirt might be the thing that is holdin it together. I guess I gotta say congrats on the 550k!

Yea I agree! 550k is great, my 96 7.3l only has 131k on it.. Still ways behind ya.
