Red face my DIY inatke seems no different from inside the cab...

So me and my dad installed the DIY intake on my '95 PSD. The filter is humongous!. anyway, we used a 45* pvc elbow (for now), which has an outer diameter of 4" and there is probably 3.5" clearance on the inside. I was anxious to take it down the road to see if it sounded like a vacuum under the hood (like i've heard), but it sounded no different.

Everyone said the turbo would be louder from inside the cab, but like i said i really cant tell a difference. Sonce my truck has stock exhaust, would that be the reason it isnt as loud, or did someone lie to me about the noise level???

thanks

You will get more turbo sound with straight pipe exhaust and lot better performance, that is when I really started to here the turbo under the hood is when I went straight pipe. Oh and you can really hear it out the tailpipe.

but then again I did AFE... but the sound out of the PG7 and Napa should, I would think, be the same.

An OBS Napa guy should come along soon.

You might hear a little louder turbo noise from the filter but the real sound comes from the doing an open exhaust from the turbo back. I have an open exhaust from the turbo and piped the exhaust out the pass. side of the truck to just in front of the rear tire. Loud, but not to bad.

Have you changed the down pipe? It will not sing well with the stock down pipe.

When i did mine,(d.y.i. Intake), I couldnt tell any difference in sound either. Just by looking at the set up, you know it flows better, and thats what its intended purpose.
Even with everything stock. I dont know if you could really hear the intake sucking air over all the rattles and such in the 7.3.
