Doin the swap

Hello all,
I am tired of having an auto in my truck, so I am going to swap it for a ZF6? The ford 6 speed. Will the crankshaft input bearing swap over from the auto to the manual or will I have to get a different one as well. I have heard it recommended to get a solid flywheel not the two piece the other truck likely has. Also will the tranny mounts from the auto work for the standard? I am looking to have this done within 1-2 months, but want to make sure I have all my ducks lined up in a row so it (cross your fingers) can be a wknd job. The donor truck is a 93 f250 same body as my 95 f350. Thanks for the help all.

if you have access to a 6 speed go for it but otherwise stick with the 5 speed really the only difference is the ZF6 has a a low gear. but hey maybe good with you were rock crawlin

that low gear is about as low as you can go, in low in a ZF6 and 4low you cant hardly stop it

You will need a pilot bearing for the new tranny. Definately go with a solid flywheel and good clutch. I have a LUK clutch with the SMF and it worked pretty good, but it couldn't handle the 100 extra HP after my injector upgrade. I got about 50 K miles out of it, mostly towing, so I can't complain. South Bend makes good clutches. I'm going with a Valair clutch next time. Good luck! With a donor truck, the swap should be fairly easy. The cross member will probably not work. The ZF6 is a lot bigger than a ZF5.
