Sounds like your friend is trying to rooster you out of your truck. There is ongoing reduction of sulfur, etc from the fuel which can remove some of the fuel's lubricity. This can be reduced by adding a fuel additive.

I don't think you will ever see a day where you cannot find fuel that your truck can run on... Keep the truck and tell the friend to look elsewhere for one

Our trucks our _more_ flexible wrt. fuel than most gassers. The petroleum fuel industry could go ***s up next Monday at 3 o'clock, and you could still find a way to run a PSD. That gas truck he wants you to buy, not so much....

I think he's been sniffing his gas tanks too much.

FWIW our D-max, which is my dad's DD and gets driven a bunch, hasn't ran on any sort of petroleum products in a month. All 100% bio-diesel.

Think about it, think about all the heavy equipment, trains, ocean liners, farm equipment. If they stop selling diesel most industry's would be screwed. UNOH also has a alt fuels program and they have a cummins and a duramax I believe that run on veggie oil
