motorcraft

I use motorcraft only because the dealer that I bought my truck from offers FREE oil changes for the life of the truck but they said 4mos or 7500 miles. does that sound right to anyone as far as the milage goes? I'am gonna take it in every 4 months regardless of the miles

Oil

Hey... Randy, that is a sweet deal the dealer gave you! I think every four months is a safe service interval, assuming you don't put a ton of miles on the truck in that time period. As far as oil is concerned, at my shop I use Motorcraft 10-30 diesel oil year round. Some guys there use Motorcraft 15-40d, some guys use Delvac 15-40d. I've seen too many hard starts in cold weather using 15-40 so I don't like to take that chance. If you're in a warmer state than connecticut, you may never have a problem using 15-40. I'd say go with what works.
