Solid Pillar For older folks?

I need to install a handle on the passenger side Pillar for my older friends to grab hold of because my truck is too high for them. Is the pillar a solid piece that I can drill and put two small screws in for the handle? (Handle is 6" long). Also If need be, how about at the top center of the door on the inside?

the A pillar is not solid but it can be done, you have to pull it off and look to see where the steel is under there. i have thought about doing that on mine many times but have never seen any pics so just havent done it yet

It is a good idea to help the older folks out with a handle. If I can get the time tomorrow I will pull it and see. Will let you know w/pics. etc.

I have mine on the outside of the cab. One inside would be great, I may just try it. The problem would be finding a handle to match the interior.

what kind of handle r u using? my wife wants one in our truck

i showed her the ones for the outside but she dont like them

I`m using a polished Stainless Steel handle I got at Lowes or Wal-Mart. I didn`t want rust and it matches with anything mostly. Can be painted and laqured to match.
