JET A ???

ok im somewhat ignorant when it comes to fuel but i do know my trucks dont like the ULSD so what is jet A? is it just #1 diesel with out being ULSD? the #1 equipment fuel we were getting was now changed and they wont sell it to us for equipment anymore they said only #2 ULSD in EQ now so am i going to have to treat it to keep it from gelling? they say the old #1 tank now has jet A and can damage diesel engines but I am not convinced that is not a scare tactic. so what do you guys know? thx

Jet-A is pretty close to kerosene. It won't hurt your diesel engine as long as you use additives to provide lubricity much the same as ULSD. A lot of the support vehicles at airports run Jet-A I've got a buddy that has used Jet-A for several years in his 7.3 without any bad effects

i own a 08 f450..i want to travel into Mexico. I was told that I could use Jet A on my 08> any comments? Mexico still has 500 ppm diesel

There was a discussion about it. Jet-A is a kerosene based fuel. It has less lubrication than ULSD, because jet engines dont require it. Jet-A will not gel until like -40F because it has to handle the ultra low temps of flying at altitude. You would have to add sometime of lubrication additive to the fuel, like Power Service. What would you be running the Jet A in, and is this because you can get it for free?

OBS powerstrokes will run on Bull Piss providing you add lube to it for the moving parts.

You don't want to put anything other than ULSD into an 08 PSD, they cant run on the LSD diesel, the DPF will be shot after 1 run through. In terms of Kero, I don't think that it would even be good for a 6.0 to run it, I know that the 7.3s could run just about anything, but the newer engines get picky.

Quite true. However , one must be careful when purchasing bull piss as some unscrupulous vendors are substituting lower quality steer piss. So, when purchasing your bull piss at an unfamiliar station be sure to ALSO add a cetane booster.

yes if you are to use Bull Piss I would suggest that you only use from a well known source and plenty of testosterone, and stay away from the steers, they have been known to plug injectors.

7.3 may run anything you say but i know first hand they wont run on 97 octane. lmao just ask my bro-in-law. he filled up on 97 octane about 6 months ago. it was hillarious

by the way the black handle at BP is diesel the green is gas. lmao
