Battery cable wire size

I need to know the optimum wire size for the positive battery cable. I'm ordering the supplies from McMaster Carr to make the cable. Will be using solder on ends and middle terminal along with heat shrink and epoxy under the heat shrink to water and acid proof the connectors. Thanks.

IIRC they are 2/0

95 F350 CCLB, ZF5, 6637, MBRP dp to 4", GTP38, intercooled, 3" plenums, DIY E-FUEL, TE17*, TS 6 pos, 140v IDM, boost fooler, leveling kit, 315/75/16's, boost, pyro, oil temp

Excellent, that is what I what I was thinking that or 1/0. Going to use welding cable to make it easier to flex. Thanks!

if your going to replace the positive cable to a larger wire, I strongly suggest making the ground the same if not larger

I'm looking 2/0 or 3/0 right now, there is only 50 amps difference between the capabilities of the two but I think I'll go with the higher of the two. I'll have to measure the cross radiator channel to see what is the largest size I can use. McMaster Carr has the solder on terminals and connectors. I'll probably color code the wiring red for positive and black for the negative.

Kris, I'll definitely keep that in mind It'll be at least the same size, larger if the routing will allow it.

messing with these is kinda like stereo, if your ground is smaller than your positive it will have adverse effects, so I always make the ground larger than the power wire when I do stereo, or battery cable changes

Agreed, pointless to increase the positive side if you don't upgrade AND clean both grounds. Make sure you use some conductive grease. Here's my upgraded cables that are made from Royal Diesel Locomotive tinned cable which is excellent in corrosive, wet atmospheres (If you've ever had to replace the plug on your block heater cord you know how corroded bare copper gets, even further up inside the insulation jacket). Still want to add better battery clamps.
