Newbie looking to buy.
Hey guys i'm new the site, to fords, and to diesels and am looking to buy a 1997 F-350 crew cab 7.3L 4x4. I found a super clean white SLT with 77,500 miles and the guy is asking 16,000. Is that about right? Is there anything i should look out for. This guy is the 2nd owner and it has cruise, power windows and locks. Thanks in advance guys, any help would appreciated.

Doesn't sound to bad to me, but are you sure about the miles on it, that is very low miles. Otherwise just look for the normal stuff, leaks, stains and everything else. Try to find out the maintenence history on it too.

I bought my 97' almost a year ago and paid 14 G's and it had 193,000 miles on it. But it's mint, no rust or body imperfections and the motor is tight. Since yours has lesser miles it needs to be immaculate for that price.

I'm pretty sure the miles are correct. They guy bought it with 39,000 miles on it 4 years ago and has been gone with the Navy for awhile, he said. It has been garage kept ever since he built his garage 3 years ago and it seem to be in almost perfect condition, inside and out. I'm looking at it again tomorrow and will let yall know how it goes. Also, when i do find the right one for me, what kind of mods can i do to these? what kind of power can a get out of her? Thanks again guys, yall are a huge help.
p.s. did they make these with leather back then? |

Alright so I drove and check out the truck again. I couldn't find any rust but it has a few little dings. The underbody looks brand new and in between the door jams are very clean as well. He put MBRP exhaust on it about a year ago and said he also had an intake and 140 HP chip. He took off the chip and intake to put on his new truck. Should I worry about the transmission, it's an automatic.
I'm looking at it once again today, should I take it to a dealer and check the history still? Also, is $16,000 still about right? Thanks. |

it shifted real well, i was surprised. It has no leaks and starts and cuts off real smooth. I don't know much about diesels but ive seen some that kind of idle off real rough.
