ACTRON code scanner

Hello all I have a question about a code scanner It is an Actron OBDII and when I connect it to my 97F250 7.3 it says it will not interface I purchased the truck last year with 160000 miles on it and I have done nothing to it. I know the scanner works I have used it on my friends 02 Dodge as well as my wifes 96 GMC
Thanks for the help
