starter relay for gpr

I just got a gpr and it looks a lot like my starter relay. I was told it was a gpr but did not have a box with discription plus it has a S on one little post and I on the other. Just trying to make sure this will not hurt anything else before i use it. The truck is a 97 7.3 f250 stock.

Thats sounds like a starter relay. See if it has a duty cycle rating or service factor. It should be 100%. The starter relays aren't made to operate as long as a GPR. It may work, or might burn the first time you try it.

Pipelayer you are 100% right. They look the same and a starter relay will work for a lil bit but it will not last. The starter relay will burn up do to the stress and heat it is put under operating the glowplugs.

yea on thoes old 7.3s they look the same, if you told them you need a gpr and they looked it up and the part number matches then it's probably the right one...as long as you didnt go to pep boys or my parts department......but alot of times the gpr fails because of the controller...so watch out for that...

Thank you everyone, I just put one in I know is right. I went to napa and got another. My wife drives the truck more than I do. Don't want her stranded. First one didn't cost to much so not out much.
