high output alternator replacement??

Does the super duty alternator fit the OBS trucks?? I'm trying to find an affordable alternative to the $400 "mean green" alternator. I don't need a 270 or 300 amp, but the stock one isn't enough at idle to keep a couple sets of auxiliary lights, compressor, etc, from dimming the headlights. Before anyone asks, yes my batteries are new! The SD 200-amp replacement alternators can be had for about $150 + shipping.

Seriously? Nobody has tried to see if the SD alternator will fit on an OBS truck? I would've thought that with the price difference between the OBS and SD alternators, someone would've tried by now. I just don't know anyone with a 7.3 in their SD. I know plenty of 6.0 owners, but no one whose parts I can size up. Somebody has to have tried this.

Re: high output alternator replacement??

The ambulance one is 240, I'm like the op, just want want a little more. our alternators are the 3g series, the super duty's are 6g. Just wondering if they interchange.

I'll have to check Napa when I can. All the ones I've seen online have been either close to or well over $300. You can find a SD "high output" for a lot less. I don't need 240 amps, but I'll post an update when I find out one way or another....
