i am getting a 1997 OBS PSD already has an mbrp 3" dwn pipe to a 3.5" straight pipe. should i leave it alone or go 4' or even 5"? the 3.5 in alot louder than the 4" i had on my old obs and i think i want to bring the exhaust out the side instead of the rear. what do you think?

4" isnt really NEEDED untill u get bigger sticks. Without a chip or injectors, u will be fine with the 3.5" straight piped. But the bigger the pipe the lower and meaner the sound. 5" sounds sick!

i really just want to get rid of the "ping"ing sound this 3.5" seems to carry it hurts my ears my 4" had a nice rumble just like it but without that "ping". i just wondered if 5" would sound even better.

I personally prefer a 5" on any diesel. It never tries to ping/pop like a gasser with pipes. I really hate when a diesel sounds that way.

sounds like 5" is the way to go. anyone know the cheapest pleace to get 5" tubing? i onnly need 10' if that to go from the down pipe to come out infront of the rear wheels maybe 5' would even do enough to come out at an angle behind the cab.

I run a 4" pipe no cats/muffler all the way to the back of the duals. The truck runs great and you can still hear the turbo. The "Funny" thing about a larger pipe - i get told all the time that the truck sounds like a gas (454-455 BB) until i pull to a stop.
