Best antifreeze?
Looks like I need to replace the water pump, so I'll do a complete flush too. What's the best antifreeze to get nowadays that has the correct additives already in it? Preferrably something at NAPA or Autozone, because there's no IH, Ford, or Cat dealers near here to get the additive. I always used the Ford FW16 before, but doesn't most antifreeze already have it in them now? Thanks.

I just get whats on sale (Peak usually) and mix it out 50/50 with distilled water in advance. I keep a bunch around all marked as 50/50 all the time. Then I get my additive at Napa, same anti caveatting stuff I always ran in my big trucks. I change mine out every fall in my winter prep, I don't run a filter so this works for me. I should add more anti caveatting protection half way through the year but I never think about it in the Alaska spring. Up hear some of the bigger outfits up hear are running a non glycol base coolant thats mix free and good down to -65f but it's to pricey for me.
To me glycol is glycol as long as the percent of content is the same I just look to the money and add the anti caveatting and anti corrosion, rust preventer goodies. The distilled water is so I am not adding all the minerals to clog up the system. |

I forgot, I also have a sacrificial anode in the radiator for added corrosion help.
