Transmission Flush Question

Ive got a little over 260,000 miles on my truck now, and i kinda worry about its tranny. the stock E40D in it has never been replaced or worked on, just maintained regularly. i realize ive already gotten more miles out of it than most auto trannies behind diesels do.
The issue is sometimes it will slip just a little bit going into overdrive, which doesnt surprise me at all. I know im probably running on borrowed time with this thing but i would like it to last till 300,000 miles. Im putting about 500 a week on the truck currently. My last flush was at 245,000 miles and now im thinking i wanna put some really nice synthetic fluid in it, so my question is this: Is there any advantage to doing this? will it help my tranny last another 40,000 miles?
Thanks in advance!

I would just put the regular fluid in it... if its lasted that long why go expensive now... there has been talks that synthetic fluid in an old worn trans can make it slip but i have no proof to back that, its just hear say. Id keep changing the fluid regularly and add a r4100 pan with a drain plug so u can change and only drop the pan every other fluid change.

I wouldn't flush it...drop pan, new filter, 8qts of fluid and keep your fingers crossed.

i thought that it was okay to flush it with high miles on it if it had been maintained regularly? is there anything i can do right now to extend the life of the tranny if synthetic fluid wont?
