getting lots of smoke out of dipstick and oil fill in valve cover. Just recently switched to synthetic 5w oil...any ideas? thanks

How much smoke are you getting? When warmed up mine smokes some out the dipstick tube and oil fill. It just doesnt have enough pressure to blow the oil cap off. I even tried the paper towel method and didnt move it. You should try the oil cap test, where you flip it over and see if it bounces around from pressure coming out. Not to be confused with vibrating off the cover.

Did you check blow-by before switching over to 5W? That should not have caused much of a difference at all.
